Applications for Preschool 2026 are now open.
Coonamble Public School Preschool provides a positive and engaging learning space for children, where families are empowered to work in partnership with the preschool educators to ensure their children have a positive education experience and build a strong foundation for learning. Offers of enrolment will be made in keeping with the Department of Education’s guidelines.
As per DoE Enrolment policy, Children are eligible to enrol in preschool classes from the beginning of the school year if they turn 4 years of age on or before 31 July in that year.
Enrolment at CPS Preschool requires the following documentation to be provided to CPS Preschool:
- A completed Application to Enrol in NSW Government Preschool
- Birth certificate or proof of identity and residency
- Immunisation History Statement (up to date)
- proof of residential address
- passport or immicard and evidence of visa status for children who are not Australian citizens
- low-income health care card if applicable and
- copies of any family law or other relevant court orders if applicable
- Health care and disability reports and plans if applicable
Documents may be delivered it to Coonamble Public School Preschool or emailed to coonmable-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
If for any reason you need support with completing the documentation or gathering the required documentation, please contact our preschool staff on 02 6822 1966 and drop into the preschool and they will be happy to support you.
Once all documents have been received by the preschool, your child will go onto the wait list and if a position becomes available, they may be provided with a position.
Department of Education general guidelines
Please Note: There is a high demand for placement into the Mascot Public School Preschool with the school consistently receiving more applications for enrolment than places available.
The school follows eligibility criteria set out in the Department's preschool enrolment procedures. If the number of applicants exceeds the places available, the school's placement panel will consider each application and make recommendations for placement according to the Department's eligibility criteria and priority set out below.
- Public preschools enrol children for one year only, the year before they start school.
- Children can enrol from the beginning of the school year if they turn four years of age before 31 July that year.
Priority is given to:
- Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander children
- children living in low socio-economic circumstances
- children who are unable to access other early childhood settings due to financial hardship.
The principal of the school will then offer enrolment in the following order:
- children living within the school's catchment area
- children living outside the catchment area but have siblings at the school
- other applicants.
